Whether you are an electrician, a carpenter, a landscaper, a shop owner or a therapist, your website has one real job: turn someone searching for what you do into someone who calls, books or walks in.
Plenty of local sites lose sight of that. Here is what separates one that works from one that merely exists.
The essentials
- It is instantly clear what you do and who it is for, without scrolling
- It is fast and genuinely mobile-friendly, because most local search is on a phone
- Contact details are everywhere they need to be, with a clickable phone number in the header
- Each service has its own clear page rather than one page covering everything
- Real photos of real work, not stock imagery
- Reviews and social proof placed where the decision is made
Say the specific thing
"Bringing your vision to life" tells a visitor nothing. "Licensed electrician servicing the Inner West, same-day callouts" tells them everything they need to decide whether to stay.
Naming the service and the area is also what makes the page findable. That overlap between clarity and SEO is the whole point.
Remove friction from enquiring
One obvious action per page. A phone number that dials on tap, a short form, and a call to action at the point of decision. If a visitor has to hunt for a contact page, you have already lost some of them.
Our lead-generating website builds are structured around exactly this. If your current site is not producing enquiries, why your website isn't generating leads walks through the likely cause.
Then keep it current
A good site decays if it is left alone. See how often a website should be updated and our website care service, or start a project if you would rather begin fresh.
